About the role
The Substitute AVID Tutor position at Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District supports the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program, which aims to increase the number of students who enroll in four-year colleges, prepare students for success in academic and life beyond high school, and attract and develop the teachers they need to support these goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction aligned with the AVID curriculum and state standards.
- Support students in developing their writing, research, and critical thinking skills.
- Work collaboratively with AVID teachers and other staff members to enhance student learning experiences.
- Assist in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Submit one of the following educational requirements:
- Completion of 48 units of college course work, or
- AA degree or higher, or
- Passage of Instructional Aide Testing (ESSA)
- Note: Testing is available through Human Resources and must be obtained prior to submitting application. Contact HR at (714) 985-8415 to schedule ESSA test if needed.
