Job Summary
The Archdiocese of St. Louis Catholic Education and Formation seeks qualified and faith-filled Substitute Teachers to support classroom instruction at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School.
Position Summary
The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining instructional continuity in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role supports student learning by following provided lesson plans, managing the classroom effectively, and fostering a positive, faith-centered atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement lesson plans and classroom procedures as provided by the regular teacher
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and well-managed classroom environment
- Support student learning and engagement across grade levels as assigned
- Communicate effectively with school staff regarding classroom needs or concerns
- Uphold school policies and expectations
- Model and support Catholic values in interactions with students and staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (education-related field a plus)
- Substitute teaching certification or eligibility per Archdiocesan/state requirements
- Classroom experience preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Flexibility, reliability, and professionalism

- Familiarity with Catholic school settings
- Commitment to the mission and values of the Catholic Church
- Able to work effectively with students of varying ages and learning levels
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the School Principal or designated administrator.
