Substation Wireman
Job Overview
The Substation Wireman maintains and performs repairs, modifications, replacements, and installations of a wide variety of electrical and electronic equipment systems while adhering to Energy Erector's Safety First Culture. This role supports the construction of new substations as well as modifications and upgrades of existing substations for electrical utility companies.
Responsibilities
- Have advanced knowledge of the tasks required to perform all phases of substation work in accordance with the power company standards and perform the work as directed by your supervisor.
- The Substation knowledge that is required includes hook up and dress transformers, set poles, equipment, and steel structures, adjust switches, and pull and terminate control cables.
- Responsible for completion of all required paperwork and job logs.
- Able to work with limited or no supervision.
- Troubleshoot power and control circuits.
- Able to work at heights or working from a boom lift.
- Understand, communicate, and train hand signals required for equipment operation.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Previous substation experience.
- PREFERRED: OSHA 10 certification.

- This job operates in a field environment.
- Routine requirements include extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.
- Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- This position is physically active, with lifting required.
- Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
- Precise hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
