About the role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Substation Testing & Commissioning Manager to lead and support our Substation Technician team in Anchorage, Alaska.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of substation and generation equipment
- Manage small to mid-sized projects including estimating, quoting, and direct client communication
- Oversee and coordinate work for field technicians and support project execution
- Balance field work with office tasks such as documentation, scheduling, and reporting
- Identify new project opportunities and support business development efforts
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree or equivalent (technical school, military training); engineering degree preferred
- Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience with high-voltage power systems, relays, controls, or substation apparatus
- Familiarity with project management, estimating, and direct client interaction
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- NETA or NICET Power Testing certification is a plus
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record required
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and self-management
- Willing and able to relocate to Alaska if not currently residing there
- Willingness to travel extensively within Alaska, as well as to the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, and the South Pacific
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Test Equipment: Omicron 356 (or equivalent relay test set), Doble TDR900 & M4100 ETI PI-2500 AC Hi-Pot and 10/200A DLRO Transformer Ratiometer, Megohmmeter
