Substation Project Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded substations
  • Material procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support through energization
  • Development and delivery of physical, electrical, civil and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications
  • Assist the Project Manager in the planning and execution of best-in-class projects
  • Client and stakeholder coordination
  • Training and mentoring of design staff
  • Project quality assurance
  • Oversight of design engineers, designers, drafters and support staff
  • Coordinate the completion of specialized tasks with ECI's subject matter expert discipline groups

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, 6+ years' project and design engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy
  • A PE license is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of power engineering principals
  • Expertise regarding applicable codes, standards and design tools
  • Basic project management execution skills
  • Experience in utility or merchant power industry a plus

The successful applicant must have an advanced knowledge of power engineering principals, be expert regarding applicable codes, standards and design tools, possess basic project management execution skills, and have the ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team.

Salary commensurate with experience and education.

Schedule

Occasional travel/driving is required; therefore, the successful applicant will be subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements.
