About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Work Management Planner III to join our team in Florence, SC (1628 Mechanicsville Rd.) or Aberdeen, NC (170 Allison Page Rd.). This role supports Transmission Construction activities for substation assets and serves as a key liaison between Transmission Construction, Project Management, Operations, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive work plans ensuring safe, efficient, and successful project execution.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with substation construction, line construction, maintenance practices, and transmission field operations. This role requires frequent field visits, collaboration with construction crews, and the development of detailed work packages supporting annual capital and maintenance programs ranging from $150M to $300M.

Responsibilities

  • Scope of work required for projects.
  • Accurately estimate hours required to perform jobs.
  • Identify skill sets required to perform work.
  • Provide procedures required to perform work.
  • Identify special tools required to perform work.
  • Plan for any mobile equipment needs.
  • Plan for any special part needs.
  • Obtain necessary DOT or Environmental permits.
  • Project job durations for scheduling purposes.
  • Provide sketches, digital pictures, or drawings as needed.
  • Provide vendor support information.
  • Provide Safety or Environmental information.
  • Specify any special PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) needs.
  • Secure and ensure materials are available for appropriate delivery to meet CMI date.
  • Produce construction estimates for durations, man hours, and resources required for construction projects.
  • Identify critical work activities and keep all transmission work groups informed of work nearing overdue status.
  • Communicate and schedule with various work groups (e.g., Construction, Project Management, Energy Services, T&D Key Account Reps, Nuclear & Fossil Plants) to coordinate high-priority work.
  • Participate in project planning meetings to develop project plans, clarify scope, assign resources, develop work sequences, and identify potential obstacles.
  • Coordinate transmission clearances with Grid Management, ECC & TCC, and DCC; assist in resolving and re-sequencing work considering customer sensitivities.
  • Process and store completed work package documentation in some regions.
  • Obtain feedback from schedulers, crew members, and supervisors to remedy work package quality issues.
  • Assist with emergency planning, clearance requests, and hot line tag requests.
  • Travel to work locations to develop work/project requirements, attend scoping meetings, pre-bid meetings, pre-construction meetings, perform walk-downs of job sites, audit work package effectiveness, and ensure availability of parts, tools, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 6+ years of related utility, construction, maintenance, or transmission planning experience.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Transmission substations
    • Electrical apparatus
    • Protective relaying systems
    • Transmission line construction and maintenance
    • Work management and planning processes
  • Experience using work management and scheduling systems such as:
    • Maximo
    • Passport
    • Primavera P6
    • MS Project
    • SLATE
    • TITUS
    • ITOA
    • Adobe Acrobat
    • Microsoft Office Suite

Pay

$38—$41/hour
