Substation Physical Engineer
Job Duties
Design the following portions of substations:
- Control building (relay panels, facilities, cable raceways, trays, etc.)
- Busbar and strain bus
- Equipment & support structures
- Assembly drawings
- Cables and connectors
- Lightning protection and lighting
- Grounding grid
- Conduit and trenches
Perform calculations such as: Grounding, Lighting and lightning, Cable ampacity
Assist project manager to develop scope of work and conceptual design for the projects;
Communicate and coordinate project activities with project manager, client, and others as needed;
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Civil is preferred.
- 5 plus years of experience in Substation Physical design.
- PE license or willingness to pursue
Desired knowledge of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), NERC, NEC, NESC, NEMA, and ANSI standards used in designing substation is critical.
Periodic travel, ability to visit project sites.
Pay
Salary Range: $85,000 - $115,000
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
