Job Duties
- Design the following portions of substations:
- Control building (relay panels, facilities, cable raceways, trays, etc.)
- Busbar and strain bus
- Equipment & support structures
- Assembly drawings
- Cables and connectors
- Lightning protection and lighting
- Grounding grid
- Conduit and trenches
- Perform calculations such as: Grounding, Lighting and lightning, Cable ampacity
- Aid project manager to develop scope of work and conceptual design for the projects
- Communicate and coordinate project activities with project manager, client, and others as needed
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Civil is preferred.
- 5 plus years of experience in Substation Physical design.
- PE license or willingness to pursue
- Desired knowledge of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), NERC, NEC, NESC, NEMA, and ANSI standards used in designing substation is critical.
- Periodic travel, ability to visit project sites.
