Substation Physical Designer

About the role

Responsible for executing physical design tasks and providing technical guidance and mentoring to CAD staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical design for high voltage substation projects (12kV - 500kV) with minimal input.
• Create detailed design documentation ensuring high quality and project alignment.
• Review drawings for accuracy, suggest improvements, and handle complex issues independently.
• Lead or mentor junior CAD operators, supporting team development.
• Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and adapt to scope or deadline changes.
• Utilize AutoCAD and 3D modeling skills, with preferred experience in 3D design.
• Ensure adherence to CAD standards, software protocols, and data management procedures.

Requirements

• 5-10+ years of relevant experience.
• Associate Degree or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D modeling, and design documentation.
• Strong resource management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, supervise others, and handle shifting priorities.
• Flexibility to work extended hours and occasional travel.
