Substation Journeyman (Four Corners Power Plant)

About the role

The Four Corners Power Plant has an immediate opening for a Substation Journeyman. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday 6:00AM - 2:30PM (NM Time).

Responsibilities

• Perform journeyman-level high voltage substation duties with an electric utility or other entity operating and maintaining high voltage substation equipment.
• Write and execute switching orders.
• Use aerial equipment, adhering to weight restrictions of 300 lbs or less.
• Communicate and work well with others, demonstrating a positive attitude with the highest commitment to work safety.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Completed a Registered Apprenticeship Program or an equivalent training program (as approved by APS T&D Technical & Safety Training) PLUS one year experience as a Substation Journeyman.
• Commercial Driver’s License (Class “A”) with ability to meet all DOT requirements.
• Valid Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) obtained within 30 days of the official transfer/start date.

Preferred Qualifications

• Considerable experience performing journeyman-level high voltage substation duties with an electric utility or other entity.
• Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The work schedule is Monday - Friday 6:00AM - 2:30PM (NM Time).

Qualifications

• Must live within reasonable distance (one (1) hour) from assigned Headquarters.
• Subject to overtime and/or out-of-town assignments.

Additional Information

• Qualifying tests (written and hands-on) will be administered.
• This position requires working with aerial equipment, which has weight restrictions of 300 lbs or less.
• For applicants electing to qualify based on the completion of a registered apprenticeship program, provide your apprentice number and copy of your Registered Apprenticeship Program Completion Certificate.
• For applicants electing to qualify based on experience or equivalent training program, provide an official Letter from HR Management or a member of the company’s operations leadership (stating: your job title, roles and responsibilities, and length of time you spent in that position, etc.).
