Substation Foreperson - NON-UNION
About the role
The Substation Foreperson primary function is to supervise a crew to ensure the proper administration of training, disciplinary action, work production, adherence to safety practices and interpretation of policies. Willingness to travel is a must.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the job briefing of the crew on work tasks and the hazards associated with the job.
- Provide daily communication with the client’s representatives.
- Civil work may include working in substations and on transmission lines.
- Directs the crewmembers on specific job tasks.
- Ability to read grade and use auto level.
- Ability to layout work using an electronic theodolite.
- Receives and interprets orders by the General Foreperson and Coordinator of utilities.
- Enforces safety practices and obtains permission from property owners to perform work.
- Assists with accident reports and incident investigations.
- Responsible for job cost control.
- Responsible for inspections, proper working conditions and necessary repairs to tools and equipment.
- Assists with field training to crew members on new equipment.
- Directs emergency situations.
- Able to read and understand Blue Prints for site grading, steel erection, equipment installation and bus assemblies.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Able to perform hands-on management of many types of maintenance and new construction activities.
- Proficient in all phases of Substation Construction including but not limited to Electrical, Mechanical and Civil aspects of construction.
- Able to comprehend blue prints.
- Able to visualize the job build.
- Must be able to identify the hazards on the job.
- Must have cognition to solve problems.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Minimum of 5 years work experience as Journeyman in Substation Construction. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Foreperson.
Skills
Applicants that are proficient in Electrical wiring prints and schematics are preferred.
