Substation Engineering Manager
About the role
We are seeking a Substation Engineering Manager to join our dynamic Power sector team. This role involves shaping the future of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution, contributing to reliable, resilient, and sustainable power systems.
Responsibilities
- Develops a partnership with Project Managers, focusing on technical execution while PMs handle scope, schedules, budgets, and client management.
- Closely works with the technical leadership team to develop processes and procedures for quality control, technical expertise, and project delivery.
- Mentors and develops junior staff through internal trainings, mentorship plans, and technical development plans.
- Develops and implements project execution plans for the technical aspects of projects, assigning tasks and providing guidance.
- Supports the technical aspects of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure, progress assessment, risk management, change management, and schedule management.
- Coordinates and performs quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables, adhering to HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Participates in project reviews as needed.
Requirements
- Master's degree preferred
- PMP certification preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 7 years related experience
- Minimum 2 years project management experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- MS Office and MS Project experience required, MS Access experience preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills
Qualifications
- Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations
- Identifies and develops specific technical expertise, attends training and seminars, and assists in developing technical papers and presentations
Skills
Strong leadership, technical expertise, and project management skills are essential. Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project is required, with MS Access experience being a plus. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team is crucial.
