About the role
We are seeking a Substation Engineering Manager to join our dynamic Power sector team. This role involves shaping how electricity is generated, transmitted, and delivered, contributing to reliable, resilient, and sustainable power systems.
Responsibilities
- Develops a partnership with Project Managers, focusing on technical execution while PMs handle scope, schedules, budgets, and client management.
- Closely works with the technical leadership team to develop processes and procedures for quality control, technical expertise, and project delivery.
- Mentors and develops junior staff through internal trainings and technical development plans.
- Develops and implements project execution plans for the technical aspects of projects.
- Assigns project tasks and provides technical guidance to project team members.
- Supports the technical aspects of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development, progress assessment, risk assessment, change management, and schedule management.
- Coordinates and performs quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables according to HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements.
- May lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.
- Identifies and develops specific technical expertise under the guidance of senior engineers and technical leaders.
- Attends training and seminars to further develop and understand complex concepts related to their discipline.
- Assists in developing technical papers and presentations for industry conferences or other events.
- Participates in project reviews as needed.
Requirements
- Master's degree preferred
- PMP certification preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 7 years related experience
- Minimum 2 years project management experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- MS Office and MS Project experience required
- Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently
- Demonstrated leadership skills
