Our Canton campuses operate complex medium-voltage power systems that directly enable the production of the cleanest steel in the world, serving aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial, and energy markets.
Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering, reliability, and evolution of Metallus’s medium-voltage power distribution systems—from incoming utility interfaces and substations to protection schemes, SCADA, and plant-wide power quality.
- Serve as the site technical authority for MV power distribution, protection, coordination, and power quality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex MV system issues impacting plant reliability and safety.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for high-impact electrical failures.
- Develop and execute the MV Asset Management Strategy for the Canton campuses, including:
- Preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Equipment specifications and standards
- Capital planning and system modernization
- Lead MV power distribution projects from concept through commissioning, with capital budgets ranging from thousands up to $5M.
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, contractors, and technical quality.
- Specify, review, and approve MV equipment purchases at the plant level.
- Act as plant lead for relay protection and coordination, including creating and modifying relay settings.
- Serve as Corporate Arc Flash Lead, executing arc flash studies and mitigation projects using power system modeling tools.
- Ensure compliance with industry and safety standards (NFPA 70, 70E, 70B, NETA MTS, IEEE).
- Lead annual plant power outage planning and execution.
- Coordinate with utilities and regional transmission authorities to ensure reliable incoming power.
- Support electrical safety programs and training across the site.
- Serve as Corporate Lead for Power Distribution SCADA systems.
- Act as plant power quality lead, investigating disturbances and implementing mitigation solutions.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with at least 7 years of experience in project management, design, supervision, or power distribution systems/equipment.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Business with at least 5 years of experience in project management, design, supervision, or power distribution systems/equipment.
