Substation Engineer, Lead
About the role
This is a 1 year contract assignment based in Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410. It is a W-2 position.
Responsibilities
- Oversee document turnover and file management to ensure operational readiness and regulatory compliance for newly constructed substations within our renewable energy fleet.
- Store and manage test records, drawings, configuration files and ensure compliance with NERC standards.
- Interface with construction and design engineers to guide process improvements.
- Support transfer of asset attributes into asset management system (Maximo).
- Support activation of required preventive maintenance (PM) tasks for the site.
- Collaborate with solar and energy storage project managers, operations teams, and engineering and construction personnel.
- Manage document storage in document management systems (D2/Documentum), including substation physical, electrical, relay, and equipment drawings.
- Record and store documentation of protection and control systems.
- Store configuration files for non-protection relays, including communication processors, meters, PLCs, and transformer temperature monitors.
- Ensure transfer of As-Builts post construction.
- Manage storage and cataloging of commissioning and test reports, including relay installations, equipment tests, and ground grid test reports.
- Support control center operations checkout processes.
- Manage communication protocol tracking files.
- Provide recommendations for procurement of critical spare parts.
- Ensure transfer and storage of important regulatory and contract documents, such as FAC, MOD, CIP, and agreements like PPA and GIA.
Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineer, and other engineering degrees with relevant experience.
- Must have at least (15+ Years) experience.
- Understanding of NERC compliance requirements.
- Work experience in substation engineering, construction and management.
- Experience with asset management systems and document management systems.
- Demonstrated capability in leading development and change efforts.
- Experience in power generation or renewable energy technology.
- Expertise with Maximo and Documentum.
Qualifications

Pay
The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $65.00/hr. to $70.00/hr.
