Requirements

  • 2+ years of Substation or System Protection Engineering design experience
  • Background in Physical Design, Protection & Control Design, Field Commissioning, and/or relay settings
  • ABET Accredited Engineering Degree
  • Experienced in MicroStation and/or Autodesk CAD programs
  • Experience in AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) and ETAP is preferred
  • Experience attending high level meetings and liaising with multiple stakeholders at any one time to achieve a common goal
  • Experience working on a team, with a team leader, with enthusiasm to grow and carry task execution as the sole technical sponsor
  • Oversee tasks within a larger project goal, with the ability to work independently to complete those tasks
  • Exceptional communication skills including being able to explain opinion effectively in support of organizational goals, remaining open and considerate of the needs of partner groups when working towards a final policy or solution
  • Independently motivated, to help move teams towards completion of goals
  • Experience and/or comfort with speaking in front of groups and with technical writing

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for Physical or Protection & Control detailed design, within the Substation Engineering group
  • Revise and develop AC & DC systems design requirements and templates, and suggest process improvements/updates in line with design and construction requirements for ownership
  • Work with partner groups to update Physical and Relay & Communication template drawings, in support of detail design
  • Professional representation of design requirements and engineering within the project execution process in stakeholder meetings with peer groups
  • Professional representation of the Project Development & Execution organization, at high level, high profile internal and external meetings
  • Performs and/or reviews engineering calculations, analysis, research and design
  • Provides cost analysis as needed and develops recommendations based on calculations (e.g., cost for equipment upgrade) for leadership review
  • Exercises independence in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard or well-defined engineering techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Uses independent judgment in prioritizing and making moderately complex adaptations and modifications
