Substation Engineer

About the role

• Detailed design of Electrical Engineering – includes conceptual design and detailed estimates
• Substation Design – creation of substation construction drawing packages, developing bill of materials, and procurement of minor materials
• General arrangement/physical and electrical layout, electrical equipment plans, elevation & section views (including transformers, bus work, etc.)
• Equipment cable trays, cable design, conduit fill calculations
• Rigid bus calculations
• System Protection & Control (SP&C) Design – creation of SP&C construction drawing packages and procurement of materials
• Drawings in specified formats: elementary diagrams, relay one-line diagrams, connection diagrams, panel layout diagrams, and circuit schedules
• Materials: relays, communication and monitoring systems, panel meters, control house panels, cables, and associated wiring materials

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited university
• 5-10 years of professional experience within substation design for electrical utilities
• Experience and/or knowledge with power analysis software (e.g., SKM, Etap, EasyPower, etc.)
• Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Must be able to report to the office and visit worksites as needed

Pay

$90,000–145,000/year
