Substation Engineer
Location: Chattanooga, TN – hybrid schedule (3 days in-office / 2 days remote).

Join a growing team delivering critical infrastructure projects across substations, renewable energy, battery storage, data centers, hydropower, and utility systems. This is an opportunity for an engineer who wants to play a key role in designing and supporting projects that strengthen and modernize the power grid. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects across the energy sector.
Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering and design of electrical substations and power delivery facilities.
- Manage projects from initial development through final delivery, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support project execution and successful delivery.
- Mentor and support junior engineers while helping develop technical best practices.
- Review and develop substation physical design layouts, protection & control (P&C) systems, grounding plans, one-line diagrams, and construction packages.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while participating in project meetings and design reviews.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while tracking schedules, budgets, resources, and deliverables.
- Support QA/QC initiatives to maintain high-quality engineering standards across all projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in substation engineering, utility engineering, or power delivery projects.
- Experience with substation physical design and/or protection & control (P&C) engineering.
- Strong understanding of power systems and electrical engineering principles.
- Ability to develop and interpret electrical schematics, relay diagrams, and design drawings.
- Experience supporting engineering projects and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- EIT or PE license is a plus but not required.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $35.00 – $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
Schedule
Hybrid (3 days in-office / 2 days remote) based in Lexington, KY.
