About the role

HDR is seeking new or recent electrical engineering graduates to join the Northern California Power Delivery Engineering team. This role offers exciting project opportunities and a chance to help clients achieve their clean energy goals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations
  • Engineering document review, drawing review and revision
  • Provide field construction support
  • Aid in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications
  • Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports and designs for electrical substations
  • Develop design deliverables including one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA schemes, communications plans, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding
  • Perform site visits during the design, construction and as-built phases of projects
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Experience using electrical design software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP or EasyPower (plus)
  • Willingness to have a strong in-office presence 4-5 days a week
  • Interest in engaging in technical and industry groups (IEEE, NAPE, EPRI, etc.)
  • US Citizenship required
  • Takes initiative and is flexible with embracing change in order to accomplish project goals
  • Thrives in a team environment and has strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Openness to being mentored by Senior Engineers and Subject Matter Experts to support individual growth
  • Prior internship/co-op experience in power, utilities, renewables and/or construction industries (plus)
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD
  • Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain CA PE registration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office

Pay

$70,304.00 - $89,980.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
