Substation Designer - AutoCAD Electrical

About the role

The Designer is responsible for design and drafting services that meet the utility client’s requirements and expectations while conforming to appropriate Codes and Standards for the associated project.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed designs and drawings including:
  • Substation Layouts
  • Wiring Diagrams
  • Power & Electrical Distribution
  • Electrical One-Line Diagrams
  • Schematics
  • Interconnection diagrams
  • Plans for Lighting, Grounding, Power, Heat Tracing, etc.
  • Conduit/Cable Schedules
  • Electrical Details
• Perform physical work such as visiting clients’ facilities, walking, standing, climbing ladders, and lifting

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent
• Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, required
• 3-5 years of substation electrical design/drafting experience & skilled in standard drafting practices
• Knowledge of or proficiency in field investigations and measurements
• Familiarity with utility and client-specific standards
• Working knowledge of or familiarity with Microsoft Office products
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform self-checking of work
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to travel to client sites as needed
