Responsibilities
- Aid in the creation of substation protection and control and physical design deliverables.
- Prepare field notes, drawings, specifications, and estimates.
- Perform self-checks to ensure quality of work before presenting to senior reviewers.
- Create computer-assisted design and construction drawings with accuracy and minimal errors.
- Conduct engineering calculations such as AC and DC load, conduit and bus sizing, lighting, and lightning analysis, and grounding grid analysis.
- Ensure designs comply with client and industry standards.
- Communicate and coordinate project activities with team members and clients.
- Utilize client and company information systems to track and update design activities.
- Attend job site meetings to gather scope of work.
- Provide field support during construction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-approved college or university.
- 1-3 years of experience working in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Basic analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
- Possession of Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification in electrical engineering preferred but not required.
- Experience with substation design and construction standards for electric utilities in California is highly desirable.

Hourly wage is between $20 and $32 an hour depending on experience.
