Substation Civil Structural Engineer

About the role

We are in search of a Substation Civil Structural Engineer to join our diverse and fast-paced organization. As a core team member, you will be interacting with other electric utility disciplines, playing a valuable part in leading and designing high voltage utility projects.

Responsibilities

• Performing design of the following civil/structural components in support of the development of bid/construction packages for substation projects: substation structure design, rigid bus design, foundation design, oil spill containment design, retaining walls, masonry control shelters, and fire-walls.
• Contributing directly to projects, performing design calculations, and providing detail markups.
• Functioning as an engineer contributing directly to projects, performing design calculations, and providing detail markups.
• Site-visits to client substation facilities are expected to be part of the work, along with occasional travel for client meetings and industry related events.
• Complying with quality control and safe work practices and maintaining compliance with project scope, schedule and budget expectations.
• Functioning as a contributing member of a design team comprised of engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
• Engineer with 2 plus years of directly applicable experience
• PE License, (preferred or near completion)
• Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint & Mathcad software
• Experience with RISA 3-D, STAAD.Pro, FAD, SAFE, SAG10, and LPILE software
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills
• Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff

Qualifications

• Strong educational background in design of steel structures, concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundations

Benefits

Pay Range $59,150.00 - $106,925.00
