Substation Civil / Structural EIT/Designer

About the role

The successful candidate will be a part of a team that provides design support for large, medium, and small-scale substation engineering projects. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a self-directed individual who wants to learn and take on new challenges.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium and High Voltage).
• Prepare calculations, design sketches and redline drawings.
• Work with Designers and CADD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements.
• Develop design deliverables including fabrication level steel drawings and foundation construction drawings.
• Participate on site visits during the design, construction and as-built phases of projects.
• May also assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events.
• Participate in project reviews as needed.

Requirements

• Due to client contract requirements - US naturalized citizenship is required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or related engineering field, Master's degree, Strong written and verbal communication skills, Ability to work in a team environment, Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, Self-motivated and ability to take initiative, EIT certification or ability to pass the FE exam within 6 months strongly preferred.
• Candidates hired without their EIT will be titled "Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Tedds, Lpile or similar structural design software, Prior experience consulting or working for an electric utility is a plus, Expose to substation design is a plus.
