Substation Civil / Structural EIT/Designer

About the role

The successful candidate will be a part of a team that provides design support for large, medium, and small-scale substation engineering projects. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a self-directed individual who wants to learn and take on new challenges.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium and High Voltage).
• Prepare calculations, design sketches and redline drawings.
• Work with Designers and CADD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements.
• Develop design deliverables including fabrication level steel drawings and foundation construction drawings.
• Participate on site visits during the design, construction and as-built phases of projects.
• May also assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events.
• Participate in project reviews as needed.

Requirements

• Due to client contract requirements - US naturalized citizenship is required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or related engineering field, Master's degree, Strong written and verbal communication skills, Ability to work in a team environment, Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, Self-motivated and able to take initiative, EIT certification or ability to pass the FE exam within 6 months strongly preferred, Candidates hired without their EIT will be titled "Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression, Experience with Tedds, Lpile or similar structural design software, Prior experience consulting or working for an electric utility is a plus, Expose to substation design is a plus
• Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer skills in Microsoft Office, An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
