Substance Use Counselor

Description

The Substance Use Counselor will assist patients through medically assisted treatments and offer techniques for handling opioid addiction. Responsibilities include conducting individual and group sessions, evaluating patient progress, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and facilitating aftercare plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients through medically assisted treatments and offer techniques for handling opioid addiction
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to support crisis management and coping strategies
• Evaluate patients' progress during counseling and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to ensure overall outcomes
• Provide direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals and coordinate all services throughout treatment
• Facilitate, establish, and review initial treatment plans with each patient
• Complete bio-psychosocial assessments and develop aftercare and discharge plans
• Ensure efficient and effective delivery of counseling services to all patients in a trauma-informed manner
• Perform other related duties as determined by supervisor

Qualifications

• Must possess an LCDC in the state of Texas
• Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is preferred
• Demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward the patient population
• Understand and utilize an EMR system (electronic medical records)
• Satisfy a satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check
