About the role

As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you’ll engage with patients through individual, group, and/or family counseling. You’ll collaborate with a treatment team—including the Medical Director, Program Director, Treatment Services Coordinator, Counselors, and Nurses—to identify and meet the clinical needs of patients and support their overall well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Work with patients to complete intakes, admissions, discharges, and transfer paperwork.
  • Document patient progress through counseling and group interactions.
  • Complete patient psychosocial assessments and individualized treatment plans within required time frames.
  • Identify clinical and case management needs and address them accordingly.
  • Perform individual, group, and family counseling as required.
  • Conduct at least 20 hours of direct one-on-one patient contact per week through individual and/or group counseling sessions.
  • Educate patients on all aspects of treatment, health issues, and steps to recovery.
  • Review Urine Drug Screens and initial patient photo identification.
  • Act in the best interests of the program and company, honoring and protecting proprietary data and rights.

Requirements

  • Active MN LADC or LPC from the state of Minnesota (or LADC/LSW/LPCC/LMFT if exemption criteria are met).
  • Experience in the substance abuse field is preferred but not required.
