About the role

The Substance Abuse Counselor provides individualized assessment, treatment planning, counseling, education, relapse prevention, and recovery support to TBI Waiver participants. Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, the counselor develops person-centered strategies that address the unique cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and environmental challenges experienced following a traumatic brain injury.

Responsibilities

• Provides individualized assessment, treatment planning, counseling, education, relapse prevention, and recovery support to TBI Waiver participants.
• Works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to develop person-centered strategies addressing the unique challenges of individuals with traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, neurological disorders, or cognitive impairments; or those with a history of substance abuse.

Requirements

• Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in good standing
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology
• Bachelor’s degree in social work
• Special Education Degree or Rehabilitation Counseling
• Two years of experience working with individuals who have traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, neurological disorders, or cognitive impairments; or providing services to individuals with a history of substance abuse.
