Substance Abuse Counselor
About The Role
Clarvida is seeking an ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Substance Abuse Counselor to provide substance abuse counseling and treatment to adults with serious mental illness and substance use disorders. In this role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and connection to community resources. You will help clients achieve their recovery goals, address their substance use and mental health needs, and improve their overall quality of life through supportive, community-based services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments of client strengths, substance abuse, mental health needs, and biopsychosocial histories
- Provide individual and group counseling for substance abuse recovery
- Deliver crisis assessments and interventions
- Link clients to community resources such as AA and other recovery services
- Develop treatment plans tailored to clients’ specific needs and goals
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss client progress and needs
- Document all services provided and maintain accurate records in compliance with agency standards
Requirements
- CAC-I, CAC-II, GCADC-I, CADC, CADC-T, or CCIT certification
- Strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Experience working with culturally diverse and dual-diagnosed populations
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Clean criminal background check (no evidence of abuse, neglect, or sexual exploitation of children or adults)
