Position Overview: Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed! Substance abuse counselor will assist patients through medically assisted programs and offer coping strategies for opioid addiction. Responsibilities include conducting individual and group counseling sessions, evaluating patient progress, and collaborating with healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Counselor will conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Coordinate care of assigned patients and report patient status and concerns to the treatment team.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop/implement treatment plans according to State regulatory requirements.
  • Provide clinical services, patient care, and education on opiate addiction counseling.
  • Document and use computer skills as required.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor.

Requirements

  • At least one of the following qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree or higher in fields like chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with clinical specialization), or a related field with practical experience in a drug and alcohol setting.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in specified fields and 1 year of clinical experience (1,820 hours), preferably in a drug and alcohol setting.
  • Associate Degree in specified fields and 2 years of clinical experience (3,640 hours), preferably in a drug and alcohol setting.
  • Full certification as an addictions counselor from a statewide certification body that is a member of a National certification body or certification by another state government’s substance abuse counseling certification board.
  • Demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population.
  • Understand an EMR system (electronic medical records).

Qualifications

  • Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
