Role Overview
A Substance Abuse Counselor engages patients through individual, group, and family counseling to support recovery from Opioid Use Disorder. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, the counselor conducts intakes, discharges, and treatment planning, documents patient progress, and performs at least 20 hours of direct counseling weekly. The role involves educating patients, administering urine drug screens, and ensuring compliance with clinical protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete intake, discharge, and transfer paperwork
- Document patient progress and develop individualized treatment plans
- Perform counseling sessions and address clinical needs
- Obtain urine drug screens and patient identification
- Act in the best interests of the program and protect proprietary data
Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant education, licensure, or certification as per state requirements
- Experience in substance abuse preferred but not mandatory
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with a team and support patient well-being
