Position Overview

The Substance Use Counselor will be responsible for assisting patients through medically assisted treatments and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. Counselor conducts individual sessions and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Counselor will evaluate patients' progress during counseling and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to assist the patients' achieving overall outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients through medically assisted treatments and offers techniques for handling opioid addiction.
• Conducts individual and group counseling services; directs service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinates all services throughout treatment.
• Facilitates, establishes, and reviews with each patient the initial treatment plan.
• Completes bio-psychosocial assessments. Develops aftercare plans and discharge plans.
• Ensures efficient and effective delivery of counseling services to all patients in a trauma-informed manner.
• Performs other related duties as determined by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service field.
• Must be certified as an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of West Virginia.
• Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is preferred.
• Demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population.
• Understand an EMR system (electronic medical records).
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
