About the role
The Recovery Village - Salem is hiring Substance Abuse Counselors to support individuals in their recovery journey. We offer full-time and part-time opportunities with flexible schedules.
Responsibilities
- Develops and provides daily group therapy to assigned patients following substance abuse and co-occurring program curriculum provided by Clinical Director
- Affords assistance to patients with substance use disorders, risk to self or others, and co-occurring mental health disorders
- Ensures group attendance/compliance by providing engaging and meaningful group content
- Uses substance abuse and co-occurring therapeutic interventions and de-escalation techniques to assist patients with treatment goals
- Assists in ensuring treatment plan goals and objectives are met and patients successfully complete treatment
- Maintains positive relationships with all staff and participates in multidisciplinary treatment plan reviews
- Communicates significant patient developments to supervisor and participates in Quality Improvement activities
- Pursues professional development through participation in education and training programs
- Completes required documentation as needed, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, state regulations, Joint Commission standards, and Medical Needs Criteria
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Behavioral Health Field preferred, High School Diploma required
- Licenses/Certifications: State SUD certification required if education is equivalent to High School or Bachelor's level, CADC I, II, or III, QMHA or QMHP and willing to obtain a CADC, CPR-AED and First Aid certification required
- Experience: Minimum one (1) year of work experience in behavioral health field preferred
Qualifications
- Demonstrates proficiency in communication and written skills
- Knowledge of state and federal statutes regarding patient confidentiality laws
- Understanding of addiction placement, continuing care, and discharge criteria, including ASAM criteria
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic interventions

Pay
$28+/hour for QMHA Group Facilitator, $26+/hour for Substance Abuse Counselor
