About the role

Simon & Schuster seeks a Subsidiary Rights Assistant to join its team. This individual will report directly to the Vice President, Director of Children’s Subsidiary Rights, and will support the Director and the rest of the Subsidiary Rights department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to Director and other department members.
  • Responsible for negotiating and managing customer requests for electronic files and processing the file billing.
  • Aid in the production of seasonal rights guides and the preparation required for various conferences and customer presentations.
  • Support contract processing and maintain the department databases and files.
  • Organize manuscripts and materials for both foreign & domestic submissions and support department colleagues.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • The capacity to multitask and exhibit self-motivation.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Knowledge of publishing industry practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
