Duties
- Represent insurers or clients in claims involving damage to real or personal property (e.g., vehicle damage, fire, water, hail, vandalism)
- Investigate cause of damage, assess liability, and evaluate repair estimates or total loss value
- Review and analyze property appraisals, engineering reports, and repair invoices
- Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel, third parties, or claimants
- Pursue recovery from at-fault third parties after a claim has been paid by the insurer
- File lawsuits or arbitration claims against liable parties (e.g., other drivers, contractors)
- Collaborate with adjusters to review subrogation potential and gather evidence
- Manage pre-litigation demand letters and post-litigation recovery efforts
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Admission to the Texas Bar and good standing
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of insurance laws and regulations
- Adequate litigation experience with trial skills preferred
- Excellent negotiation, oral advocacy, and legal writing skills
- Profound proficiency in legal research tools and case management software
