About the role
The Subject Matter Expert (SME) II will support the Department of Energy Environmental Management Consolidated Business Center (DOE-EMCBC) at Bettis Atomic Laboratory in West Mifflin, PA. The candidate must have recognized expertise in a DOE-recognized field and familiarity with applicable Codes and Standards, particularly in:
- Project management and design performance
- Technical development and deactivation/decommissioning of nuclear sites
- Coordination and facilitation of meetings
- Field and safety preparedness
- Recovery and shipment of sealed sources for radiological liability
- Preventive maintenance and management of engineering staff
- Maintenance of nuclear legacy facilities
- Procurement and operation of heavy-duty industrial equipment
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, strong organizational skills, and excellent oral and written communication are required.
Responsibilities
- Manage and direct daily tasks for design, construction, startup, and/or operations/maintenance of complex high-technology systems or projects.
- Render opinions on engineering, management, and technical issues.
- Provide recommendations to project design and construction teams in areas of expertise.
- Conduct independent reviews and assessments in specialized areas.
- Guide project teams in delivering results and enforce work standards, schedules, and quality.
- Communicate organizational goals, objectives, and policies to staff.
- Coordinate with functional organizations and may supervise entry-level personnel.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in engineering, science, or a relevant technical field.
- 20+ years of experience in Project Management Support.
- Experience working and communicating effectively with all levels of staff and contractors.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Successful drug screening.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
Location/Work Arrangement
This is a fully onsite position at Bettis Atomic Laboratory, West Mifflin, PA.
