About the role

Brandes Associates, Inc. (BAI), a defense contractor, is seeking a Subject Matter Expert with 10+ years of experience to support current and evolving technical engineering contract requirements at NAS Point Mugu, CA. This role provides highly specialized programmatic and technical support for the research, development, test, and evaluation of complex systems, specifically Navy Combat Systems and Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) test and evaluation programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in DoD test documentation and configuration management, producing mission-critical documentation used to plan, execute, and record complex missile defense tests (e.g., SM-3 and SM-6 firings).
  • Author, edit, and produce comprehensive mission documentation, including Aegis BMD Mission Test Plans, Combat Ship Systems Qualifying Trials (CSSQT) test plans, Air and Missile Defense Radar Trials test plans, and Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) published by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
  • Create, manage, and maintain classified mission supplemental annexes for test plans to assist in mission execution and post-test reporting.
  • Collaborate extensively with engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), technicians, logistics personnel, and program leadership (e.g., Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, PMRF, MDA, PEO IWS) to capture design intent, build processes, and integration steps.
  • Maintain strict configuration control, version control, and documentation integrity for classified, CUI, and unclassified documents within technical documentation repositories.
  • Standardize formatting and structure across documentation to ensure compliance with Navy and MDA standards, identifying gaps in processes to improve clarity and execution.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in programmatic, financial, or technical support of the research, development, test, or evaluation of complex systems.
  • Desired experience includes Navy Sea Range support of surface fleet trials and live firings, as well as work experience with development and compilation of procedural documentation to define test environments and evaluations.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (a Master’s degree may substitute for one year of general experience).
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information).
  • U.S. citizenship at the time of application.

Pay

The typical annual salary range for this position is $120,000 to $155,000 USD. Salary will be based on current qualifications, directly related experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements, which could fall outside of this range.

Benefits

Opportunities for career advancement, excellent benefits, and long-term stability are some of the advantages of our growing, employee-focused company.
