About the role

The Subcontracts Manager is responsible for driving the subcontract buyout process from RFP to Contract execution, while maintaining a current database of vendor pre-qualification and monitoring vendor performance. This position reports to the Director of Subcontracts and may require up to 30% travel. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize the procurement of subcontractors
  • Manage RFP Process with limited direction from the Director of Cost Management
  • Prepare RFPs to qualified subcontractors and establish, maintain, and meet bid schedules
  • Obtain necessary documents from stakeholders to create RFPs and maintain a bidders list
  • Perform bid evaluations by preparing bid analysis for Manager review
  • Develop and negotiate Subcontract Agreements, Supply Agreements (as needed), Change Orders, and other related contract management documents
  • Review, compare, and evaluate subcontractor proposals and historical pricing to determine reasonable pricing and cost-saving opportunities
  • Negotiate commercial terms in accordance with company policies and guidelines
  • Ensure prime contract flow downs are incorporated into subcontract documents
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with contract and project requirements
  • Ensure project costs are properly categorized when submitting subcontracts for approval
  • Support the Project Management Team with contract information to resolve subcontractor issues, such as under-performance or scope gaps
  • Maintain accurate and complete Purchasing records in accordance with record retention procedures
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Construction Contracts Management and/or Procurement
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in solar and/or construction field projects at the project size of over $30M in procurement of equipment/material or subcontracting
  • Preferred experience in Solar or Renewable Energy
  • Knowledge in contract management and change order management
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, professional, team environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confidence and ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • Advanced computer literacy with Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems; SAP experience preferred
  • Customer service skills, including experience in conducting supplier reviews and evaluations, and maintaining good business relationships
  • Able to identify, investigate, and solve problems that might arise with orders in a timely manner

Physical Demands

  • Frequently remains stationary up to 90% of the time and sits up to 8 hours in a day
  • Infrequently bends, stands, stoops, and/or walks
  • Infrequently carries weight and/or lifts objects (light to heavy) weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Frequently communicates with the ability to hear and talk on a regular basis
  • Frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairways to access office upper and lower floors
  • Travel up to 30% as needed

Work Environment

  • Regular professional, construction shop, and worksite settings
  • Noise level ranges from low to moderate (office setting) or moderate to high (construction worksite)
  • Under the Office Mobilization Plan (OMP) policy, the role may transition to an onsite or hybrid arrangement as determined by business needs

Pay

The salary range for this position in Irvine, CA is specified under the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by factors including internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties, and necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, along with medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
