This is a remote position covering multiple states: Oklahoma, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, and Mississippi.

About the Role

The Sub Regional EHS Specialist will ensure compliance with EHS policies, programs, and procedures and government standards. Responsibilities include communicating and contributing to the development of policies and programs, assisting with conducting audits and onsite inspections, and analyzing data to provide recommendations for improving processes and programs. The role involves interacting with customers, government agencies, and other functions for customer pre-qualification and project/outage planning requirements across the outage EHS Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle, including active participation in Operation Readiness Reviews (ORR) and post-outage learning. The Specialist will collect, consolidate, and analyze data from multiple sources to determine site entry statuses for active field employees and recommend innovative solutions and process improvements to achieve the overall EHS blueprint.

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership & Compliance:
    • Oversee the implementation of Life Saving Rules and ensure full compliance with internal standards (e.g., FW 2.0) and local/federal EHS regulations.
    • Develop and maintain an effective Accident Prevention Program and ensure the execution of Site Safety Plans.
    • Manage documentation of all safety efforts, permit reviews, and EHS-related event tracking to ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Operational Support & Outage Planning:
    • Represent EHS in Operation Readiness Reviews (ORR) and wing-to-wing outage planning; actively participate in the outage PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle.
    • Coordinate with the Resource Manager and Customer Service Leaders regarding EHS staff assignments, workload forecasting, and outage planning.
  • Audit, Investigation, & Reporting:
    • Manage OSHA incident/injury reporting and lead thorough root cause investigations to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Conduct internal audits and prepare sites for unannounced government or third-party inspections; provide actionable recommendations to improve performance scores.
    • Provide the Regional EHS Leader with in-depth metric analysis and strategic recommendations for safety policy improvements.
  • Training & Team Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and support a team of 3rd party EHS Specialists and Coordinators.
    • Ensure all personnel receive required EHS training, including site-specific and customer-mandated programs.
    • Manage the implementation of Safety Task Assignments (STA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and associated risk assessment training.
  • Communication:
    • Facilitate weekly updates regarding injury/illness trends, mitigation strategies, and safety awareness.

Requirements

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 7+ years of professional EHS experience, with at least 2 years in construction, power generation, or a similar technical industry.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proven field experience in high-risk industrial environments.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in EHS reporting, audit preparation, and incident investigation.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and research skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Soft Skills & Travel:
    • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and direct effective teams.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English proficiency required).
    • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive under time-sensitive deadlines.
    • Ability and willingness to travel regionally or globally with minimal notice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification in EHS (e.g., ASP, CSP, CIH).
  • Active membership in recognized professional EHS organizations.

Pay

For candidates applying to a U.S.-based position, the pay range is between $113,100.00 and $188,500.00. The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility includes a discretionary annual bonus.
