sUAS Specialist

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Participates in rapid prototyping for the design process for drones
• Makes recommendations for modification during the design process based on feedback from previous testing results to meet desired specifications
• Performs assembly of mechanical and electrical drones, integration and test, and buildup of assemblies & subassemblies
• Uses a variety of machine shop tools and other items including CNC mills, 3D printers, etc.
• May use CAD tools to assist in designing models for drone assembly
• Documents processes and build techniques
• Provides technical support to stakeholders and troubleshoots issues
• Assists in training and curriculum development
• Participates in testing, data collection and analysis
• Prepares reports for leadership discussions on the process and recommends process improvement
• Travel for field testing and/or project meetings may be required

Required Experience

• A highschool diploma or equivalent
• Two or more years of experience in electrical/electronic assembly, equipment maintenance/repair, or related experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and mechanical components required
• Previous experience reading schematic drawings and other manufacturing documentation
• Willing and able to travel up to 10% for field testing or project meetings if necessary
• Must be able to successfully undergo criminal background check prior to start of employment

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with drones and/or Remote Control (R/C) experience preferred
• Previous experience working at a DoD contractor or aerospace environment
• Knowledge of CAD or 3D printing
