Stylist

About the role

Experience a perfect blend of deliberate purpose and clear-eyed vision at Ulta Beauty. As a Stylist, you’ll engage with guests, consult on their hair care needs, and recommend products and services. You’ll deliver quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look while supporting the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance, guest service, and operational compliance.

This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed sales goals of $800 average weekly sales and productivity goals for hair services by delivering exceptional guest service.
• Contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Demonstrate business acumen by identifying growth opportunities and staying informed about industry trends, products, and services.
• Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and tailored retail/service recommendations.
• Uphold high standards of customer service and salon image.
• Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a well-rounded guest experience.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and state board guidelines for safety, sanitation, and infection control.
• Follow service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
• Utilize booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the EM to maintain guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and assigned areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention best practices.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license.
• Previous relevant salon experience preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques for haircutting, coloring, styling, texture, treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Aptitude to develop skills in all service categories.
• Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell pro hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.

Schedule

• Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility during shift.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs.
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching.
• Ability to stand for long periods during shift.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.

Pay

The pay range for this position is the higher of $14.81 - $19.00 per hour or services pay for the workweek pursuant to the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business needs. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay as required by applicable law and tips paid by service guests.
