Stylist

About the role

As a Stylist, you’ll engage with guests, consult on their hair care needs, and deliver quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look. This role supports the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through a focus on performance, guest service, and operational compliance. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair services including haircuts, color, texture treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed sales goals of $800 average weekly sales and productivity targets for hair services by delivering exceptional guest service.
• Contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Demonstrate business acumen by identifying growth opportunities and staying informed about industry trends, products, and services.
• Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and personalized retail/service recommendations.
• Adhere to high standards of customer service and salon image.
• Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a well-rounded guest experience.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and state board guidelines for safety, sanitation, and infection control.
• Follow established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Utilize booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the EM to maintain guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and assigned areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention best practices.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license.
• Previous relevant salon experience preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency in salon techniques for haircutting, coloring, styling, texture treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Ability to use salon equipment and chemicals safely and effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to recommend and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build customer relationships.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Capability to build and maintain a clientele.

Special Position Requirements

• Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility during shifts, including lifting/moving up to 10 lbs.
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching.
• Ability to stand for long periods during shifts.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.00/hour, with opportunities for eligible associates to earn services pay under the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay depends on factors such as education, qualifications, certifications, experience, shift, location, and business needs. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay and tips from service guests.
