About the role

As a Stylist, you will engage with guests, consult on their hair care needs, and recommend products and services while delivering quality professional services. This role supports the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) with a focus on performance, guest service, and operational compliance. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and eagerness to learn product knowledge are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair services including haircuts, color, texture treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed sales goals of $800 average weekly sales and productivity targets for hair services by delivering exceptional guest service.
• Contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
• Demonstrate business acumen by identifying growth opportunities and staying informed about industry trends, products, and services.
• Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and salon image, serving all guests—including walk-ins—in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide a well-rounded guest experience.
• Share benefits of the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app with guests.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and state board guidelines for safety, sanitation, and infection control.
• Follow service protocols for a consistent guest experience and utilize booking systems for return services.
• Maintain salon and store cleanliness, including restrooms, backroom, and break areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention best practices.
• Protect company assets and execute operational tasks as directed.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license.
• Previous salon experience preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency in salon techniques for haircutting, coloring, styling, texture treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Ability to use salon equipment and chemicals safely and effectively.
• Strong product knowledge to recommend and sell pro hair care and makeup products.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build customer relationships.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Capability to build and maintain a clientele.

Special Position Requirements

• Work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility, lifting/moving up to 10 lbs, stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching during shifts.
• Ability to stand for long periods during shifts.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.

Pay

The pay range for this position is the higher of $16.94 - $19.00 per hour or services pay for the workweek under the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay depends on factors such as education, qualifications, certifications, experience, shift, location, and business needs. Eligible associates may earn overtime pay and tips from service guests.
