Brandeis University is looking to hire a Study Abroad Advisor in the office of Study Abroad. The Study Abroad Advisor provides comprehensive guidance to students exploring off-campus study options for Brandeis degree credit and manages key processes for those participating in affiliate partner programs abroad.
Responsibilities
- Advises students about appropriate programs of off-campus study for Brandeis degree credit during the academic year and summer from a portfolio of more than 200 approved programs in 50 different countries. Completes in-person or virtual advising appointments with students and general information sessions. Approximate time spent: 30%
- Supports students beyond initial program selection through application support, financial resources, credit transfer, Brandeis policies, health and safety, cultural adjustment, and other academic and non-academic issues both prior to, and while studying abroad. Responds to student health and safety, or other needs, while abroad. Helps students navigate re-adjustment from abroad, returning to campus, and credit transfer. Approximate time spent: 25%
- Oversees the implementation of all deadlines and requirements for students studying on semester and summer affiliate programs including course evaluations, application assistance, and application management and tracking. Approximate time spent: 15%
- Manages social media presence for the Office of Study Abroad. Designs, develops, and attends sessions with other offices, student groups, and academic departments to promote study abroad opportunities. Organizes larger scale events (e.g., I Love Study Abroad Week). Approximate time spent: 15%
- Manages the Study Abroad Ambassador program. Supervises 10-14 student employees as a cohort of Study Abroad Ambassadors. Hosts weekly or bi-weekly meetings, provides advising support, helps plan events, and helps Ambassadors meet the goals and priorities of the Office of Study Abroad and the university. Approximate time spent: 15%
Requirements
- B.A./B.S. required; M.A./M.S. preferred
- 3-5 years of relevant job experience is required
- Knowledge of a second language, familiarity with higher education in other countries, and experience living/studying or working in one or more foreign countries
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Terra Dotta, Workday, and design platforms is desirable
Pay
The salary range for the position is $60,900 - $65,500.
