About the role

The Hawk's Cupboard is a food pantry at Black Hawk College designed to assist students in need. It operates under the Federal Work Study Program, which requires students to demonstrate financial need and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0.

Responsibilities

• Helping unload truck from River Bend Food Bank delivery
• Packing bags with groceries for drive-up events
• Stocking food pantry
• Keeping inventory of needed/wanted items
• Working with the pantry captain to order from River Bend
• Checking in students/employees utilizing the food pantry
• Ensuring new visitors complete a registration sheet
• Organizing the Hawk's Cupboard as needed following pantry dates
• Holding open pantry hours to allow for better access of non-perishable goods
• Assisting with any drives that are planned
• Ensuring that marketing is placed in appropriate places on campus and keeping related marketing up to date

Requirements

• Current BHC student
• Cumulative 2.0 GPA (per the Academic Progress Policy)
• Enrolled in 6 or more credit hours per semester
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis

• Other skills/experience may be requested or specified by the department and/or hiring manager at BHC
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
• Be sensitive to needs of those utilizing the pantry
• Be organized
• Able to work with limited supervision
• Able to work a flexible schedule desired
