STUDENT WORKER, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

About the role

The Student Worker Program is designed to provide on-the-job training and experience while participants obtain their degree. This is a temporary, part-time position, compensated on an hourly as-needed basis for up to 30 hours per week during instructional period.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of basic information technology tasks, including installing and configuring desktop software products and hardware such as personal computers, printers, and modems.
• Participate in the analysis, design, evaluation, testing, and implementation of computer systems.
• Provide customer service through help desk support and interacts directly with network users.
• Conduct hardware and software inventories.
• Aid in performing programming tasks such as program design, program coding, and testing.
• Aid in making simple modifications to web page contents.
• Aid in preparing operating documentation.
• Aid in conducting training sessions for staff on either a one-to-one basis, or in a group setting.
• Aid users in identifying and resolving network, software, and hardware problems.
• Assist in ad hoc report development.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in an accredited college or university with specialization in the Computer Sciences, Information Technology, or a related field.
• A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Physical Class

This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. Successful candidates are required to submit the following documents during the hiring process:

• Proof of Current Enrollment.
• Proof of Academic Specialty / Declared Major in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
