Student Worker
About the role
Clarkson College is currently accepting applications for student worker positions. These positions are designed to provide hands-on experience and support for students looking to prepare for careers in healthcare and education.
Responsibilities
- Educational Assistant at Pinewood Elementary School: Provide academic support and mentorship to elementary-aged students, helping with reading and math comprehension, fluency, literacy skills, and more.
- After-School Reading Tutoring Assistant: Assist elementary-aged students with reading comprehension, fluency, and literacy skills, creating a nurturing and supportive learning environment.
- Student Lab Assistant: Support lab instructors with laboratory activities and student needs, maintaining confidentiality and using organizational skills.
- Financial Aid: Assist with general work office support duties, including greeting students, answering financial aid questions, filing projects, data entry, and other office tasks.
- Interprofessional Learning Center: Organize and stock linens, Sharps containers, and gloves, assist with simulations, run manikins, and support software updates.
- Registrar's Office: Assist with filing projects, graduation duties, organizing supplies, and perform reception duties, answering phones, answering questions, data entry, filing, and other tasks.
- Office Support: Perform general office duties, including reception duties, answering phones, answering questions, data entry, filing, and other tasks.
- Food Pantry: Organize grocery deliveries, stock food items, sort and stock clothing donations, track inventory, and provide occasional clean-up assistance.
Requirements
Must be currently enrolled at Clarkson College, possess a valid driver's license, and handle confidential information. Previous experience working with elementary school students is preferred but not required. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
Qualifications
- Educational Assistant: Must be able to travel to and complete work hours on-site at Pinewood Elementary School.
- After-School Reading Tutoring Assistant: Must exhibit a desire to work with children and help them develop their reading and literacy skills.
- Student Lab Assistant: Currently enrolled as a student at Clarkson College, knowledge of lab equipment and processes, understanding of laboratory procedures and equipment, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Financial Aid: Computer and data entry skills required.
- Interprofessional Learning Center: Familiarity with educational technology and resources for teaching reading is a plus.
- Registrar's Office: Experience with Microsoft Office and Word required.
- Office Support: Ability to handle confidential information, excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and effective organization and time management skills.
- Food Pantry: Organizing grocery deliveries, stocking food items, sorting/stocking clothing donations, tracking inventory, and providing occasional clean-up assistance.
