Student Therapist I

About the role
Under the general supervision of the rehab manager, the rehab tech will perform duties based on the level of education they have achieved in their specific program. At a minimum they will provide assistance to the therapist in the outpatient department for set-up of patient treatments and wrap-up of patient care. They may be asked to assist with hands-on care when patients require two assist for more skilled interventions. The tech will also be trained on front desk support and clinic maintenance such as equipment cleaning and stocking.
Responsibilities
- Treats Patients According to a Plan of Care - Provides goal-oriented mobility based on predetermined patient needs. Adjusts the patients’ session based on changes in patient status and function. Addresses any needs for adjustment to mobility level with primary therapist and/or appropriate covering therapist. Utilizes age-appropriate techniques with patients. Considers cultural and religious preferences during treatments.
- Documents all Patient Care - Produces documentation that is accurate, concise, timely, and legible. Completes all required documentation by the end of work shift.
- Participates in the overall day-to-day operations of the department - Manages time effectively by adhering to productivity expectations and utilizes downtime appropriately. Evaluates need for equipment and supplies and communicates to the appropriate person. Manages patient caseload effectively throughout the day and adjusts prioritization based on department needs.
- Maintains a Safe Environment for Patients and Staff Members - Adheres to all safety standards to ensure a safe rehabilitative environment for the patients. Demonstrates knowledge of safety standards and practices standard precaution. Monitors patient equipment for safe use. Any identified equipment concerns/problems are directed to the appropriate department. Recognizes emergency situations and responds appropriately.
- Educates Patient, Families, and Caregivers - Uses age-appropriate teaching methods and tools to educate patients and families. Uses culturally sensitive language, teaching materials, and techniques in educating patients and families.
- Performs related duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Enrollment in a physical therapy, physical therapy assistant, or occupational therapy assistant degree program.
- BLS certification required.

Pay
$15.00 - $17.40 per hour. Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.
