About the role

This position is part of the continued improvement and development of the Division of Student Support Services. The role manages cross-departmental projects designed to ensure compliance with federal, state, and district policies and procedures. Work streams include evaluating instructional and assessment activities and practices across Student Support Services and in partnership with other departments within Teaching and Learning and across the District. The role supports the ongoing restructuring and coordination of services across multiple Central departments, requiring the ability to deliver personalized support and develop multi-dimensional projects with an understanding of school culture and systemic operational qualities.

Responsibilities

  • Project design and coordination (60%)
    • Manages projects to develop or enhance key school service and instruction initiatives.
    • Facilitates coordination and communication to ensure acceptance and efficacy of implemented solutions for school-level and central office needs.
    • Plans and directs all project activities from concept through implementation.
    • Develops and manages project schedules, resource plans, scope, budget, risk, and communication plans with input from business and technical staff.
    • Coordinates with functional groups and departments such as the Department of Race and Equity Advancement, Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and Technology Services.
    • Ensures project deliverables align with district initiatives and established standards.
    • Facilitates agreement on deliverable formats, content, and professional development needs with stakeholders.
    • Works with district department managers to incorporate new deliverables and update guidance and professional development.
    • Establishes guidance and procedural documents to ensure project sustainability.
  • Ensure equitable access and barrier-free delivery of high-quality instruction and support services (25%)
    • Assists department managers and directors in identifying, establishing, and implementing goals and coordinated delivery of support for the District's student services programs.
    • Works with multiple departments to ensure compliance with federal, state, and district policies in the development and delivery of services.
    • Monitors service development to ensure equitable and barrier-free access for historically underserved populations, including children in Special Education, low-income families, English Language Learners, and historically underserved children of color.
    • Develops and facilitates services in conjunction with program managers, principals, community partnerships, and other programs to meet tiered support needs of students.
    • Promotes and implements evidence-based school practices relevant to an urban, culturally diverse community, ensuring systems support high-quality instruction for all students.
  • Community and stakeholder engagement (10%)
    • Assists program managers and directors in collaborating with community and district partners, including the City of Seattle, agencies, hospitals, district offices, and community-based groups to provide whole-child supports.
  • Additional duties (5%)
    • Attends required team and committee meetings and participates in activities deemed necessary by the District or supervisor.
    • Participates in ongoing training to enhance professional skills.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction or a related area.
  • Five or more years of experience in central and/or school-based leadership (e.g., coaching, teacher leader, building leader, central leader).
  • Washington State Administrative Credential (preferred).
  • Criminal justice fingerprint and background check required.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Benefits

Seattle Public Schools benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours worked during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Employees scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for benefits.
