Student Support Leader

About the role

The Student Support Leader at Gateway High School (GHS) supports students in achieving academic success and personal growth. This role oversees Enrichment Programs and Leadership Programs to ensure students receive comprehensive support.

Responsibilities

• Meet with students weekly to discuss various topics including school climate, student issues, and leadership development.
• Facilitate curriculum focused on personal leadership and social-emotional learning.
• Manage the Study Café, ensuring appropriate student usage and maintaining the space.
• Assist Independent Study students in completing assignments and provide CyberHigh support.
• Transport students using Club vehicles or public transportation, ensuring their safety.
• Collect and analyze attendance data, and implement program outcome measurements.
• Communicate with stakeholders, including parents and school administrators, and promote program visibility.
• Participate in and support school-wide events.

Requirements

• Equivalent work experience in youth development, education, or community settings (or a BA/BS degree).
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and experience driving a 12-passenger van.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Punctuality, reliability, and ability to work independently.
• Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification.
• Ability to commit to a 32-hour work week following the school-year calendar.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Direct teaching or professional facilitation experience with high school-aged youth.
• Experience working with students from traditionally underserved communities.
• Prior experience with attendance and youth tracking database systems.

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift 25 lbs.
• Able to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively.
• Able to sit at a computer workstation for long periods of time.
