About the role

The Student Success Secretary provides administrative and clerical support to school leadership with a primary focus on student attendance, intervention systems, and family engagement. This position coordinates attendance intervention processes through the state’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), assists with data collection and reporting, supports front office operations, and contributes to a positive, student-centered learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain student attendance intervention processes in accordance with state MTSS guidelines and district procedures.
  • Monitor, collect, organize, and maintain attendance and intervention data to support administrative decision-making and state reporting requirements.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and documentation related to attendance, student success initiatives, and administrative needs.
  • Assist school leadership in developing and implementing innovative strategies to improve student engagement and increase daily attendance.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and community partners regarding attendance concerns, interventions, and available resources.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting visitors, answering multi-line telephone systems, directing inquiries, and assisting families in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Perform general front office duties, including filing, data entry, scheduling appointments, maintaining student records, and processing routine correspondence.
  • Support the daily operations of the school office to ensure efficient and effective administrative services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and district information in accordance with federal, state, and district regulations.
  • Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, and support staff to promote student success and positive school attendance.
  • Assist administrators with special projects, reports, and other duties as assigned.
  • Perform additional administrative and clerical responsibilities as needed to support school operations.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience as a secretary or office assistant.
  • Knowledge of basic office procedures.
  • Knowledge and skills of computer function and operation, typing, accounting, phone systems and other related secretarial skills.
  • Effective interpersonal relationships with public and staff.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform the job and access the environment for which you are hired.
  • Sitting, standing, lifting, moving about the room or school, carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture.

Equipment/Technology Handled

  • Computer, calculator, copy machine, phone system and other office technology.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality.
  • Interruptions of work are routine; flexibility and patience are required.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision.
  • After-hours work may be required.

Terms of Employment

200-day contract on the 200-day secretary salary scale.
